2020 Spring Camp – Cancelled

It is with a heavy heart that we are informing you that the 2020 Spring Camp Lokahi (March 16-19, 2020) is cancelled. This is not a decision that our staff made lightly or have come to quickly.

With the recent events concerning Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), we sought to gain as much information as quickly as possible, as our desire at camp is to provide a safe place (mentally, spiritually, and physically) for our keiki. Along with health recommendations from numerous organizations, local medical professionals have advised us that if we were to hold camp, that they would recommend not accepting, out of state participants, those who have travelled out of state in the last 2 weeks, those who have been inclose contact with someone who has, and/or anyone who is experiencing cold or flu symptoms. Based on these criteria, many of our potential campers along with a majority of our staff members would be affected. Our camp director has also recently returned from Seattle, Washington.

Many of our campers would be returning home to kupuna/elders and/or infants (who are more vulnerable to the disease) after camp. Also, as concerns with COVID-19 reaching national, even worldwide levels, basic supplies needed to ensure that camp is a safe and clean environment are in short supply or are completely out of stock, such as toilet paper, hand sanitizer, bleach, lysol, basic hand soap, etc… Based on these factors, we have decided that it is in the best interest for all involved in CAMP LOKAHI and our local community here in Kohala to CANCEL camp.
